This year both teams were able to field their full complement of 32 players, or 8 rinks of 4 players, without too much trouble, which was quite pleasing, given the problems of attaining this number most years in the past.
Of the 8 rinks, one resulted in a draw, and the total of 6 other rinks saw a result of one shot in favour of the Old Blues, so close were the results over 7 rinks. However, it was on the 8th rink that the Old Blues had a big win of 15 shots, resulting in an overall win to them of 16 shots, the final score being SPOC 104 shots to PAOC 88 shots.
The usual after game delightful supper and convivial drinks was enjoyed by the members of both Old Scholars teams together in normal good spirit, the shield was presented to the Old Blues convener, Greg Twelftree, who responded thanking the Adelaide Bowling Club for hosting once again, and many thanks to Mary-Ann Standish (PAOC) and Annie Bawden (SPOC) for their efforts in making the night the usual success that it is.
Also, congratulations to Annie and Mary-Ann for implementation of the new online system of nominating and paying for entry to the event, this has obviously streamlined that process.
The Old Blues have now won this event the last 3 years, so it is now time to return the shield to its rightful home at PAOC with a win in 2022!
