Class of 1981 Forty Reunion

Friday 17 September saw the Class of ’81 gather for their forty year reunion lunch at the Seven Stars Hotel in Angas Street.

Unfortunately, COVID border restrictions prevented 17 of the group unable to get into Adelaide to attend, however 51 dapper gentlemen turned out in their finest for the afternoon. A dozen or so rolled up early to tour the school with David Cornish (Foundation Executive Officer) and were amazed at some of the changes around the campus, with both Pirie and Bayley boarding houses gone, and replaced by a magnificent new boarding house across Parade West.

The Seven Stars provided a fine venue, good food and plenty of laughs throughout the afternoon. John Keeves proposed the Toast to the School and spoke from the heart about what a school like PAC really is. Headmaster Bradley Fenner responded on behalf of the school and noted his cousin Gus Fenner had actually driven across Queensland, to the NT, and down to Adelaide to attend the luncheon!

Several staff, not looking any different to when we left, were able to attend including our much respected Headmaster Geoff Bean, and enjoyed some very interesting anecdotes with those who had been under their pastoral care back in 1981.

Franco Parella ran an “on the couch” with Shaun Seigert, Richard Turner and Andrew Heinrich which provided a fascinating look into what three luminaries of the class have been up to since leaving school. The talk got louder, and the stories more bold as the evening wore on, but everyone agreed ten years was too long to wait until we get together again.
